User acknowledgment, AI consent, limited release, and indemnity

This is the agreement for the optional AI paperwork tools only. The ordinary HOPE resource directory and Manual Private Mode remain available without accepting it.

Plain-language promise

1. Voluntary use and informed consent

I choose to use the optional AI Paperwork Copilot. I authorize HOPE to transmit only the materials I deliberately select for the limited purpose of analyzing, organizing, translating, or drafting paperwork assistance. I understand that I can use Manual Private Mode instead.

2. User responsibilities

I am responsible for providing truthful information, checking the official agency instructions, reviewing all AI output, correcting errors, protecting my credentials, meeting deadlines, signing my own declarations, and deciding whether to submit. I will not use HOPE to impersonate another person, create false evidence, evade lawful requirements, or submit material I am not authorized to use.

3. No professional or government relationship

HOPE does not provide legal, medical, tax, financial, immigration, or eligibility advice. Use of the tool does not create an attorney-client, fiduciary, caseworker-client, agency, or representative relationship. For a court deadline, eviction, appeal, immigration matter, disability claim, or other high-stakes issue, consult a qualified professional or authorized agency representative.

4. Assumption of risk and limited release

I understand that AI and document recognition can be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or wrong. To the maximum extent permitted by law, I accept the ordinary risks of voluntarily using this free assistance and release HOPE, its creator, volunteers, and participating organizations from claims arising solely from my reliance on unverified AI output or my failure to review official instructions. This release does not apply to gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, or rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

5. Limited user indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I agree to defend and indemnify HOPE, its creator, volunteers, and participating organizations against third-party claims, penalties, or reasonable costs caused by my intentional misuse of the tool, unlawful impersonation, knowingly false submissions, infringement of another person's rights, or upload of material I had no right to use. This clause does not require me to indemnify HOPE for HOPE's own gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, or unlawful acts.

6. Disclaimer and limitation

The service is provided as available, without a promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, accepted by an agency, or suitable for a particular filing. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HOPE is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost benefits, missed opportunities, or agency decisions arising from unverified output. Nothing here limits liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be limited.

7. Privacy and deletion

HOPE is designed not to create a central paperwork case file. The AI function code does not write the request or document contents to a HOPE database or blob store. Hosting, network, and AI providers may process or retain transmitted material under their applicable service terms. The browser keeps only a non-sensitive record that these terms were accepted, unless I deliberately save a receipt or export a packet. I can clear the acceptance record and local paperwork data from the app.

Acknowledgment copy

Typing a name here creates a printable personal record. It is not sent to HOPE and does not itself activate AI mode.

Important legal note: This is a conservative product-risk draft, not a legal opinion. HOPE should have Rhode Island counsel review it before a public AI launch.
